Documents To China

Our dossier was sent to China today!!! That gives us a DTC (documents to China) date of 2/29/2008. Leap day!

Now the real wait begins. It's going to be at least 2 years, but soon we will be meeting other families with DTC dates close to ours and we will all possibly fly to China together when we finally get our referrals.

Our Favorite Blogger

I just want to send out a special note to my sister Kate (Aunt Kate to Malia) and thank her for all the responses she gave us for our blog posts. You rock, Aunt Kate!

We are done! Tonight, the last mailer will be sent to Great Wall. Our dossier will be compiled, sent for authentication, and "logged in" with the CCAA in Beijing.

We will soon receive our all important "login date". All dossiers logged in on this date will be treated equally throughout the remainder of the process. The significance of this date is that we will begin a slow bonding process with other families with the same login date. We will meet them, share our excitement as the waiting period inevitably shortens and ends, share the joy when we receive our referrals and child photos together, and in the end will share the trip to China with them as well.

They will all be extended family, in other words.

But first things first. Send in the mailer, get our login date, and wait.

Oh, about the wait. It looks like 2+ years now. I hope we can find a 3 year old to keep us busy during that time. ;)

Some last details...

We are finally close to sending in our final mailer (Mailer #2). We had a few questions for our adoption agency (Great Wall China Adoption):

(1) Can you confirm that the final payment to Great Wall should be $4250 (our premier plan installment #2)? And that our China Registration and Wiring fee is $850? For a total payment of $5100?

(2) We are supposed to send in the "I-171-H or I-797C (photocopy of form with notarial statement)". We have received our I-171-H back from San Antonio. It is two pages stapled. We don't see any "notarial statement" on either page, but we assume we simply need to photocopy page 1.......the page which reads "Notice of Favorable Determination Concerning Application for Advance Processing of Orphan Petition"?

(3) Does the Post-Placement Verification statement simply need to be filled out by us in the presence of a notary, with the notary signing, stamping and doing her notary "thing"?

Hi Dianne and Marc,

That’s so exciting!

You’re correct on the agency fee, but the registration and wiring fee was raised to $990 (this fee is established by the CCAA).

For the notarial statement, you’ll need to make a photocopy of the I-171H and attach it to the form I’ve attached here to the email. This form needs to be signed by one of you and notarized.

You will not need to submit a Post Placement form since those will be done by one of our social workers.

Everything else looks great!

Woohoo!

We'll get with our notary early next week. Then write GW the check. Then out the door early next week.

Then we are done and will wait. So exciting!
