You do not lose your place in the non-special needs line by signing up to view the special needs kids. If you do decide you want to adopt a special needs kid and send a Letter of Intent to China, then your dossier is pulled out of line at that point.

I think it's a good option and it's OK to accept or refuse a proposal of a SN child. It's depending on how severe the needs are and how far parents are ready to invest time in the hospitals. When we know our limits, both (parents and child) in the end will benifit from it.
